Bashley 3 Christchurch 0
Hampshire FA Sunday U18 Cup
Bashley took time to settle against a strong, determined Christchurch and it was the fast improving Brogen Sims who opened the scoring after 11 minutes with a cracking shot from all of 25 yards that defied human intervention.
This was now a blood and thunder cup-tie and it was the home side that stamped their authority when Jonny Davis in a forward defensive roll, collected the ball in his own half and powered through static opposition to deftly deposit the ball past the diving Christchurch keeper from some distance.
A similar run by Brogen Sims bought about Bashley’s third goal when he was brought down in the penalty-area. Unsurprisingly, it was Brogen who claimed earner’s rights and hammered home from the spot.
Christchurch were a different side in the second half and added skill to their physical-play but the Bash defence stayed firm. The home side had chances to increase their lead but lacked their first half urgency and were happy to defend their well-earned lead.
