Ringwood Town 1 Bashley 2
Hampshire County Youth League Div 2
Bashley were made to struggle against bottom club Ringwood Town with a display indicative of the cold, grey weather and seasonal over-indulgence. As the game progressed, Ringwood looked the more likely to score with the visitors lacking coordination and prone to error.
So, it was no surprise when Ringwood took the lead after a catalogue of defensive errors gifted a goal. A shaken Bashley equalised after a rash challenge in the box resulted in a penalty which was gratefully put away by Jonny Davis.
It was a more determined Bashley that started the second half and their efforts were rewarded when prolific scorer, Brogen Sims powered his way into the goalmouth to slide the ball passed the keeper. Josh Cook, fresh from a substitute appearance for the first team at Tadley, hit the bar and, with Ringwood still dangerous on the break, a missed chance by Jamie Johnson when blazing over from close range could have been costly.
The home side did themselves no favours by having a man set off for kicking Billy Cooper rather than the ball and the game ended with Bashley happy to take three points despite an under-par performance.
