Bashley’s forward power too much for the Linnets

Bashley 6 New Milton 0
Bournemouth Senior Cup

Bashley’s intentions to retain the Bournemouth Senior Cup were clear from the start with Dan Munday returning to pair up-front with the fast-improving Cameron Beard. New Milton, however, without their influential player-manager Patrick Wilson, started well and the first ten minutes were even. This changed when an astute pass from Brad Morris sent Jack Smith away and his cross from the right flank was met at speed by the mercurial Dan Munday who headed home in style.

Four minutes later the game was virtually over when Sam Jackson headed a corner home having been left unmarked at the far post. Smith surged forward on another run and was brought down in the box. Munday gave no chance from the spot. The game was then halted when New Milton’s young Charles Medway was taken off injured after a collision. A free-kick just on halftime taken by Harrison White and met on the volley by Tony Rolls to make the score 5-0.

The second half was a bit of an anti-climax with the news that an ambulance had been called for Charlie who left for hospital with a suspected fractured leg. New Milton came more into the game and Kieron Burgess in the Bash goal was called into action whilst Bashley made changes giving their subs game time. Beard, now the sole frontman, twice carved his way into goalscoring positions, his first effort stopped when he was taken out on the edge of the box, his second ended in a fine solo goal.
