Fareham 2 Bashley 4
Hampshire FA U18 Youth League
A lack lustre first 20 minutes, saw Fareham deservedly go 1-0 up; Bashley’s keeper Dale Hind was left exposed on several occasions but, thankfully, kept the deficit to one with a series of important saves. A timely change of personnel shored-up the defence, bringing Bashley more into the game.
A smart finish from inform Brogen Sims – achieving something of a record in playing his third game in five days, each for a different Bashley team – brought parity before a stunning solo goal from Josh Cook gave Bash a half time lead
The second half saw Bashley soaking up pressure and limiting Fareham to speculative crosses and distant shots. Some slick, quick build-up play brought the Bash two more goals: a cracking strike from Sims, that took his season’s goal-tally to fifteen, and a cool one-on-one finish from the impressive Cook to further increase the lead and take his personal tally to two.
Bashley almost added a fifth goal when Billy Cooper broke through a static defence, but his dash was better than his finish and it was left to Fareham to finish the goal-scoring with a late consolation goal.
